St Mark's Basilica and Hurricane Lane top Tote Ten to Follow rankings
St Mark’s Basilica and Hurricane Lane powered to the top of the Tote Ten to Follow rankings following their big-race wins at Leopardstown and Doncaster.
It was a weekend when many popular selections failed to deliver on expectations, but St Mark’s Basilica produced the goods for his supporters when holding off the challenge of Tarnawa to win the Irish Champion Stakes. He earned 27.7 per cent of stables 51.4 points, taking his competition haul to 168.2 points.
Hurricane Lane kept to the St Leger script at Doncaster to win his second Classic of the season and earn a further 52.6 points for 19.5 per cent of players including competition leader My Cat Chip, who also had St Mark's Basilica.
Love, High Definition, Tarnawa, Thunder Moon and Glass Slippers featured in the top 20 most selected horses in the season-long competition but were beaten last weekend, although seven of the week’s 12 winners scored big with at least 30 points.
No Speak Alexander’s Matron Stakes win earned six stables 58.45 points, while a day later at the Curragh Sonnyboyliston claimed the Irish St Leger to hand 0.1 per cent of stables 31.6 points.
