Shoemark loses claim in style by winning on all three Epsom rides

In-form apprentice Kieran Shoemark capped a memorable few weeks by riding out his claim with a 105-1 hat-trick in the first three races at Epsom on Thursday evening.

Successes on Fair Power (9-4) in the 1m2f handicap and Chess Move (9-1) in the novice event took him to a career total of 95 winners, which means he becomes a fully-fledged jockey.

He completed a treble from three rides on the night on Pealer (9-4) in the 1m handicap.

Those triumphs came hot on the heels of a double at Lingfield the previous day, meaning he had ridden five winners in his last six rides.

Losing his claim came just three weeks after Shoemark scored his first Royal Ascot victory on Atty Persse for Roger Charlton in the King George V Handicap.

"Now the hard work starts!" Shoemark, 21, said on Racing UK.

"When you first start off it is every young apprentice's dream to ride out their claim. Now it's gone I shall have to step up.

"This is a step along the way. I have ridden out my claim but Mr Charlton is putting me on a lot of his horses at the moment and I don't necessarily think he's doing that for my claim, he's been very good to me. When they are using you as a 3lb claimer they like the way you ride. I am getting plenty of riders at the moment, long may it continue."

Shoemark will still draw his 3lb allowance on Friday and Saturday, when he rides Donncha in the bet365 Bunbury Cup at Newmarket before flying to Salisbury for three mounts on their evening card.
