No barriers for Borderforce as he wins on third run for Karl Burke
The ex-French-trained Borderforce sprung a 22-1 surprise in the day's feature handicap, the £25,000 Ripon Rowels.
The five-year-old stepped up markedly on his third appearance for Karl Burke, getting a dream run up the inside for apprentice Clifford Lee to beat front-runner Gurkha Friend by a head.
The winner is owned by Colin Bryce, and Joe O'Gorman, who is now assistant to Burke, said: "The easier ground today was definitely in his favour, as his best form in France was on soft ground."
