Racing awaits further details on how £40m winter survival fund will be deployed

Racecourses in England have been urged to remain patient as the sport awaits further details of the government's aid package announced last month to help fend off financial threats caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Racing, like many sports, has had its finances hit by the outbreak of Covid-19, but a £40 million winter survival fund was announced four weeks ago.

That figure was the second highest made available to a sport in England behind the £135m set aside for rugby union and outgoing BHA chief executive Nick Rust quickly urged tracks to unlock as much money as they could.
