Why is it interesting?

This Listed sprint contest is often won by progressive types including the likes of Avonbridge (2003), Sakhee's Secret (2007) and the smart Cardsharp a year ago, and this year's race is wide open.

Archer's Dream boasts the most progressive profile of the six runners, with the James Fanshawe-trained filly looking to defend her unbeaten record. She was a highly impressive novice winner at Yarmouth last time and carries the Fred Archer Racing colours that have been carried to top-level sprinting success with The Tin Man.

Last year's Gimcrack winner Emaraaty Ana steps down in grade after two unplaced efforts in the British and Irish Guineas.

Snazzy Jazzy, third at Haydock last week, is another high-profile name on the card. Clive Cox's runner won the Silver Cup at Ayr before winning a Group 3 in France last season.

The sextet is completed by Arbalet, Richenza and George Bowen.

Andrea Atzeni has ridden six winners from his last 24 rides, a 25 per cent strike-rate. He partners Emaraaty Ana.

The Ralph Beckett-trained Richenza is one from one at this track having scored over course and distance last season.

Clive Cox, trainer of Snazzy Jazzy
It's a bit of a quick turnaround after a good performance at Haydock in the John of Gaunt last week, but I'm delighted with how well he's come back. He'll love the ground, especially with the continued wet weather. He's equally versatile over six and seven furlongs, and although he has a Group 3 penalty I think he is hopefully in with a sensible chance.

He's in good form, but I hope the ground dries out a bit for him. He is proven over six furlongs so it looks a good starting point again for him.

It's a step up, but her pedigree suggests she should enjoy the soft ground so I hope she can run well. She seems in good form and hasn't done anything wrong, but she has a bit to find with the others.

What do the tipsters say?

Emaraaty Ana should appreciate the return to sprinting and will be a force if handling the slowest ground he will have faced. Fellow three-year-old Archer's Dream still has potential but this represents a much stiffer test of her credentials. George Bowen should give it his all once again but Snazzy Jazzy could well defy his penalty. Clive Cox's four-year-old ended 2018 on the up, made an encouraging return at Haydock last week and will appreciate the return to six furlongs.
