The Briefing: all you need to know including going from the tracks
The clock ticks just that little heavier today as Flat transitions to jumps, with Newbury's card representing the first National Hunt action of the season at a track which will, in a little more than three weeks' time, host the Ladbrokes Trophy.
Today is more of a midweek treat in flavour. A couple of must-watch novice hurdles, at 1.15 and 2.25, sandwich an above-average beginners' chase (1.50) with a Pertemps Qualifier following all of that at 2.55.
It is a busy day on the jumping front, with Thurles, Market Rasen and Sedgefield also in action, before Chelmsford takes over on the all-weather in the evening.
