Aintree Friday: ITV4 Racing tips
Our Spotlight experts select their best bets for day two of the Grand National festival
2.20 Aintree
Betway Top Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1), 2m½f
Nicky Henderson has won five of the last ten runnings of this novice hurdle and saddles favourite Dusart.
The Ronnie Bartlett-owned six-year-old defeated subsequent Betfair Hurdle winner Soaring Glory on his sole start at Newbury and was described as a "real stand-out animal" by jockey Nico de Boinville.
His rivals include Supreme third For Pleasure, County Hurdle winner Belfast Banter and Third Time Lucki.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: AJERO
Highly progressive on sharp/flat tracks; respected in this perfect scenario
Betway Mildmay Novices' Chase (Grade 1), 3m1f
Another Grade 1 favourite for Nicky Henderson as Marsh Novices' Chase scorer Chantry House bids to complete a Cheltenham-Aintree double.
Envoi Allen's early exit changed the complexion of the Marsh but Chantry House was a ready winner and Henderson landed this race with Might Bite and Terrefort in 2017 and 2018. The betting suggests the progressive Espoir De Romay, a two-time winner from three starts in novice chases, is the main danger for Kim Bailey.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: ESPOIR DE ROMAY
Produced a big figure (RPR 163) in Leicester handicap last time; improving; respected
Marsh Chase (registered as the Melling Chase) (Grade 1), 2m4f
Politologue runs in the day two feature for the third time having been successful in 2018 and runner-up to Min the following year.
His trainer Paul Nicholls also runs Master Tommytucker and outsider Duc Des Genievres, with Politologue vying for favouritism with Ryanair Chase second Fakir D'Oudairies.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: POLITOLOGUE
Four-time Grade 1 winner, including this race in 2018; leading claims if at his best
Paul Kealy's Friday banker at Aintree
4.05 Aintree
Randox Topham Handicap Chase (Grade 3), 2m5f
Willie Mullins seeks back-to-back wins in this race over the National fences and saddles two runners – favourite Livelovelaugh and Robin Des Foret.
Henderson has a four-strong squad in Caribean Boy, Morning Vicar, Precious Cargo and Lust For Glory, while the Alex Hales-trained Huntsman Son has claims after an encouraging sixth in the Paddy Power Plate at the Cheltenham Festival.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: LIVELOVELAUGH
On long losing run but has gone well over these fences previously and arrives in good form
Four leading Friday fancies with star ratings – including 'a potential star'
Doom Bar Sefton Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1), 3m½f
Challow winner and Ballymore third Bravemansgame sets the standard in this top-level novice hurdle.
Irish Cesarewitch and Dovecote scorer Cape Gentleman looks a main threat for Emmet Mullins and Gallyhill, a £450,000 purchase in 2019, is an intriguing alternative stepped up in trip.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: GALLYHILL
£450,000 buy; plenty to find on his runs under rules but could improve lots for going 3m
