Speaking on Sunday, Ireland's champion jump jockey said: "I'm sore but I didn't break any bones and I'll be back riding at Killarney within a few days.
"I didn't take any rides there tomorrow but I'll be back either on Tuesday or Thursday."
Townend was riding Kerry Star for Willie Mullins in a 2m maiden hurdle when the 6-4 favourite fell two out, suffering a fatal injury.
