Why punters should resist ten-race cards as the 'new normal'

The BHA, specifically those involved with race planning, must sometimes feel it is subject to a unique strain of the Andy Murray effect.

It has long been observed, with just a slight curl at the corner of the mouth, that Murray is British when he wins at tennis and Scottish when he loses. It is not hard to see parallels in how the BHA's mistakes are always highlighted and their successes seldom given due credit.

The bumps in the road since racing returned in Britain last month have been truly remarkable in their absence. Look at Murray's sport, which has already hosted a super-spreader event in Croatia and has essentially divided its tour in two, on account of tournament organisers going rogue in order to save as much of their investment as possible.
