I have partnered The New One to all bar two of his 19 career wins and, as you know, he means the world to me. He is very special.

I was still a teenager when I rode him to win his first race – a Warwick bumper in November 2011 – and there is little doubt that he made my early career. I owe him an awful lot.

To break through the £1million barrier in prize-money by finishing second to Champion Hurdle winner Buveur D’Air at Kempton on Tuesday is the most incredible achievement and reflects tremendously well on not just The New One, but everybody involved with him at Grange Hill Farm – and particularly my dad Nige.
