Disgraced owner could drag the Derby through the mud in growing scandal

The Derby is one of the greatest and most important races in the world, so why has trainer Kenny McPeek chosen to disrespect it?

By entering Tiz The Bomb for this year's Classic, McPeek has decided to ignore the decision of the British racing authorities to suspend the beleaguered racing ownership group Phoenix Thoroughbreds and make use of a loophole in the rules in his pursuit of personal glory.

It is so disappointing, and furthermore it has the potential to entangle British racing's signature contest in controversy during a year in which the race forms part of the official Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Queen.
