All punters, without exception, are fallible. Even pros have their hang-ups. Whether you bet solely with your gut, or strictly by a system, there will be foibles in your methods.

The best we can be is a little better than we were yesterday. In the spirit of the season, the Racing Post's tipping team have all provided one thing they want to do better in 2020.

Don't fall too hard for eyecatchers
