The fact I was no longer going to ride as first jockey for Paul Nicholls meant there were a lot of unknowns going into this season, and I am delighted to finish with over 100 winners for the sixth consecutive time.

It’s been a great team effort, and I’d like to say a big thank-you to my agent Chris Broad and to all those trainers and owners I’ve ridden for.

There were some really big highs and lows along the way. Al Dancer’s Betfair Hurdle win was huge, as was Politologue’s Ascot success, while Al Dancer’s Supreme Novices’ defeat hit me particularly hard – but hopefully I’ve emerged a more rounded person and better jockey for it all.
