How an extraordinary horse can remind us of the extraordinary stories to come

So now we know, or at least we think we know, when there may be some racing back in Britain after the government revealed its roadmap for easing us out of the coronavirus lockdown.

The route chosen is a cautious one and is littered with potential obstacles which could catapult us back to where we started. However, as we stand Monday, June 1 is the beacon we shall trek towards.

I must confess to some disappointment and sadness that it will be the best part of at least three weeks until we get racing back when plenty appeared to be in its favour for resumption. No doubt countless others will feel similarly, if not stronger, and all efforts have to go into ensuring we are able to restart without any further delay when that date arrives.
