Fabulous Frankel remains the talk of racing ten years on from his final win
In terms of catching the eye at the Tattersalls Book 1 sale in Newmarket this week, it was a close call between Sheikh Mohammed's all lime-green ensemble he wore on Thursday and the insatiable appetite for offspring of Frankel.
Both man and horse certainly made an impact in and around the sales ring, and nearly ten years on from his final racecourse appearance in the 2012 Champion Stakes at Ascot, it is worth pausing to consider the enduring impact Frankel is having on our industry.
Frankel was always about more than just the raw numbers – impressive as they were – with his 14 wins from as many starts, ten wins at Group 1 level, earnings just shy of £3 million and that stellar rating of 140.
