Brace yourselves, changes to whip use are nigh and racing has to get it right

There is no doubt summer is in full swing in the part of the world where I live.

We have just had the July meeting at Newmarket featuring three fantastic days of glorious weather and racing intrigue, and, as I write, at the pub beside my house where a band likes to play a few tunes for patrons on warm nights, Stevie Wonder's Superstition is being murdered.

The same fate befell Wonderwall by Oasis, Always by Bon Jovi and the products of various other music megastars who likely never envisaged hearing their melodies and lyrics contorted in such an extraordinary manner.
