Abject failings of interference rules continue to be a major headache for racing

Paul Hanagan's eloquence in his dealings with the media has almost certainly been abetted by his lengthy innings as a newspaper columnist and his understanding of the requirements of the role.

It is also why interviewing the dual champion jockey has always been rewarding. No matter how challenging the question, he always endeavours to answer it thoughtfully rather than dismissing it out of hand.

From time to time problems in the weighing room need to be addressed. That time is upon us in respect of the alleged bullying culture, an issue Hanagan attempted to contextualise this week when speaking at length to the Racing Post.
