One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday

Trainer

Nicky Henderson will not be at Sandown as he is self-isolating but the trainer will be watching with interest from home as Constitution Hill steps up in class for the Grade 1 Tolworth Novices' Hurdle (2.25).

He has four runners on Saturday and sends three to Wincanton, including Blairgowrie, who is among the leading contenders for the Rapid Charge-sponsored handicap hurdle (2.40), live on ITV4.

The trainer runs hurdlers Clean Getaway and Blue Stello, who makes his second start after being awarded a race at Warwick last time.

Jockey

In-form jockey Charlie Deutsch landed the Grade 3 Dipper Novices' Chase last Saturday aboard L'Homme Presse for trainer Venetia Williams and has two chances to enjoy more Saturday success.

He has two promising rides at Sandown, beginning with Farinet, who won a Listed contest here in March and is a worthy favourite for the Read Nicky Henderson's Unibet Blog Handicap Chase (1.15).

Deutsch then partners popular chaser Aso in the Unibet Veterans' Handicap Chase (3.00) for Williams. He has frequently contested Grade 1s and was second behind Frodon in the 2019 Ryanair Chase.

Horse

Constitution Hill could hardly have been more impressive when powering 14 lengths clear of Might I on his debut here last month and he is being thrown in at the deep end in the Tolworth Hurdle.

The five-year-old is 4-1 for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival behind his well-bred stablemate Jonbon.

He will be sent off as an odds-on favourite at Sandown under Nico de Boinville and victory here could lead to his festival price shortening.

Race

The old guard is out in force at Sandown for the veterans' race, which has been won by some popular chasers down the years, including Pete The Feat, who was a regular in the race and scored in 2017.

Aso heads the field for the in-form duo of Deutsch and Williams but it is always a competitive contest and Final Nudge, who won at Warwick last time, is among the fancied runners for trainer Fergal O'Brien.
