One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday
Trainer
Sir Michael Stoute has had a quiet week but sends out five promising runners at Newmarket and Glorious Goodwood on Saturday.
Portfolio bids to land her third straight win when lining up in the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Chalice Stakes (2.45) at Newmarket, a race Stoute won last year with Katara. Portfolio steps up to 1m4f for the first time after winning at the course two weeks ago.
Also at Newmarket, Terra Mitica makes her debut over 7f (1.00) and Law Of One contests the Patti Crook Memorial Handicap (3.20).
My Frankel and Boss Power head to Goodwood, where they will both line up in the Summer Handicap (2.30). My Frankel is the pick of the two and may appreciate the drying ground as he steps up to 1m6f.
Jockey
James Doyle started his week off with a double at Windsor and may finish it with another as he has some well-fancied rides on Saturday.
The jockey rides in six of the seven races at Newmarket and has a decent chance with Sayyida, who has won her last two outings and steps up to Listed company in the Chalice Stakes (2.45). He also partners Modern News, who makes his first start since June 2020.
Doyle rode Ranchero to his first win in May and the pair try to follow up their success in the final race of the day (4.30), while Doyle has a first ride on the Hugo Palmer-trained Strawberry Rock (3.20).
Horse
Wonderful Tonight is around 8-1 for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in October and she lines up in the Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes (3.05).
A ready winner of the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot, the David Menuisier-trained four-year-old was a dual Group 1 winner last year and is 7lb higher than any of her rivals in Goodwood's 1m6f contest.
Race
Up to 28 runners line up in the Unibet Stewards' Cup (3.40) at Goodwood and it could be a race that throws up plenty of surprises. In the last six runnings of the 6f contest, three of the winners were favourites, while the other three were at prices of 20-1 or bigger.
Hurricane Ivor comes into the race after two good runs in handicaps, while Fresh was only a neck behind Rohaan in the Wokingham Stakes.
