'Dream come true' as Sam Twiston-Davies is passed fit to return on The New One
Sam Twiston-Davies returns to the saddle aboard old ally The New One for his father Nigel in Saturday’s Grade 2 Unibet International Hurdle at Cheltenham.
The leading jockey, who is number one rider to Paul Nicholls, broke his elbow in a fall at Sandown almost five weeks ago and has worked tirelessly to get back as soon as possible.
After being passed fit to ride by the BHA doctor on Friday lunchtime, Twiston-Davies, who will replace Richard Johnson, said: “My dream has come true. I so badly wanted to ride The New One and have done everything I possibly could to make it happen.
“I owe enormous thanks for Rob Treviss and Emma Edwards at Oaksey House, who have both helped me so much over the last few weeks.
“I’m almost sat here in tears. It means everything to get back and ride my dream horse at Cheltenham.”
