Pat Cosgrave faces an anxious wait to see if he will be able to partner Sky Bet Ebor favourite Live Your Dream on Saturday, with the Godolphin-owned runner not guaranteed to make the cut for the £500,000 contest.

Trained by Saeed bin Suroor, 7-1 favourite Live Your Dream is 26th in the list and needs five to come out of the race to make the final field of 22. It could well go down to the wire at declaration time on Thursday morning, after which there will be two reserves for the 1m6f handicap.

Cosgrave has struck up a good relationship with Bin Suroor in recent years and the pair landed over £1 million in prize-money when Gifts Of Gold won a similar staying handicap on the Saudi Cup card in February.

Prior to that, Cosgrave enjoyed a productive spell in Australia for the stable in 2018, including when winning the Group 1 Caulfield Cup on Best Solution as well as the Ladbrokes Stakes on Benbatl.

Cosgrave said: "Saeed and I have done very well in these big races over the past four or five years and hopefully we'll get the chance to continue our good run.

"Over the years we've enjoyed great success together in Australia, Dubai and Saudi Arabia and the horses are running very well at the minute at a good strike-rate."

Live Your Dream's handicap mark has gone up 21lb after winning three of his four starts this season, most recently when successful in a 1m6f handicap at Newmarket's July festival.

"It's a great mount to get, but Live Your Dream has got to get in the race first," the jockey added. "I won on him at Wolverhampton the time before last and then Oisin [Murphy] rode him to win at Newmarket, he's a progressive horse.

"It's going to be very tight to make the final field, but hopefully he can sneak in at the bottom."

Shanroe, who is three places below Live Your Dream in 29th, will leapfrog him in the list and is guaranteed to run in the Ebor.

York clerk of the course William Derby explained: "Shanroe won a 'Win and you're in' race at the Curragh and has to make the final field, so he'll be the 22nd horse. Bar that there will be two reserves."
