William Buick is second in the jockeys' championship and his charge is gathering pace after six consecutive wins, with six more rides to come at Kempton on Friday evening.

The 33-year-old's stellar season has included Group 1 wins on Hurricane Lane in the Irish Derby and Grand Prix de Paris and King George success on Adayar at Ascot in July, but he has been in a particularly rich vein of form over the last couple of days.

On Wednesday Buick partnered Ocean Wave and Sassy Rascal in victory at Lingfield before a perfect four-timer at Haydock on Thursday, winning on Tall Order, New Kingdom, Al Suhail and True Scarlet.

William Buick career statistics

Buick will attempt to extend his winning sequence at Kempton on Friday. His first ride is Godolphin debutant Maplewood (5.45), who cost 320,000gns as a foal and runs in the mile novice.

The Norwegian-born rider is also booked on three-year-old filly Camerata for the first time for trainers Simon and Ed Crisford. She won at this course on her most recent start over a furlong shorter and enters handicap company for the first time in the mile fillies' handicap (6.15).

Friday's Kempton card and betting

Al Jaddaf, another Godolphin two-year-old, is Buick's third ride on the card in the 7f novice (6.45) in a market dominated by his ride and the John and Thady Gosden-trained Altraif.

The market suggests Buick has a good chance of a winner on Saatty, who is favourite on just his third start for Mick Appleby and the Horse Watchers in the 6f handicap (7.45).

Buick rides favourite Out Of Reason for Alan King in the 1m4f handicap (8.15) before he ends his book on Byron Hill, a last-time-out winner at Nottingham for Charlie Fellowes who runs in the concluding 2m handicap (8.45).

Retained by Godolphin, Buick has 108 winners for the season and is 13 behind reigning champion Oisin Murphy.

Buick's rides at Kempton

Maplewood (5.45)

Spotlight comment: 320,000gns; lots to like on paper and stable operates at a 30% strike-rate with 2yos here

Camerata (6.15)

Spotlight comment: narrow winner of 7f novice here last month; should have more to offer in handicaps

Al Jaddaf (6.45)

Spotlight comment: nicely bred colt; Royal Lodge entry; should build on his debut third at Wolverhampton

Saatty (7.45)

Spotlight comment: only third of five at Epsom on Thursday but didn't appear to handle the track there

Out Of Reason (8.15)

Spotlight comment: 0-7; close third of six at Wolverhampton (1m4f, Tapeta) puts him back in the picture

Byron Hill (8.45)

Spotlight comment: two wins this summer, including over 2m on latest outing; should be on the premises
