One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Friday
Trainer
Paul Nicholls has a strike-rate of 28 per cent at Chepstow in the last five seasons and bids to hit the ground running at the track's jumps season opener with five runners on Friday, including Outlaw Peter.
The six-year-old scored on his second start of the year at Kempton in May and lines up in the Grade 2 Unibet Persian War Novices' Hurdle (2.10), a race his trainer last won in 2020 with McFabulous.
Jockey
Andrea Atzeni is no longer retained by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum but remains in demand with good chances at Newmarket.
The jockey partners joint-favourite Crystallium in the Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes (2.25) and has strong chances aboard Rogue Spirit in the Cornwallis (1.50) and Purplepay in the Challenge Stakes (3.00).
Atzeni has live chances in both divisions of the fillies' maidens with Hey Lyla and Gareeb, and another in the Newmarket Pony Academy Pride Stakes (5.50) with Rogue Millennium, who was seventh in the Oaks.
Horse
Before Polly Pott heads to Cheltenham to join Ben Pauling at the end of the season, she bids to provide Harry Dunlop with a remarkable swansong in the Group 1 bet365 Fillies' Mile (3.35) at Newmarket.
The two-year-old has won her last four starts, including when scoring at 40-1 in the Group 2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster last time. She will be sent off at a far shorter price this time and has solid claims.
Race
A group of eight serial winners line up in Chepstow's Unibet Persian War Novices' Hurdle (2.10) and each of them has legitimate claims. The favourite, Quid Pro Quo, is an intriguing contender for JP McManus and Dan Skelton, having won both of his starts since wind surgery.
Donald McCain runs Presentandcounting, who has been campaigned throughout the summer and could make it four wins in a row, while Scipion and Outlaw Peter are both course winners.
