Discover Newmarket has joined forces with premier syndicate organisers Highclere Thoroughbred Racing in a bid to attract new owners into racing.

The organisation operates tours around HQ which take in every aspect of the sport and include visits to trainers yards, the gallops, Palace House, National Stud, Dalham Hall and, this year, Shadwell Stud in Norfolk.

With many tour visitors expressing an interest in racehorse ownership, Discover Newmarket has now partnered with Highclere to direct like-minded individuals towards potential ownership opportunities.

As the range of top trainers employed by Highclere across the country includes seven in Newmarket, syndicate members are assured of plenty of access to their prospective charges through the year.

The seven Newmarket-based trainers used by Highclere are champion trainer John Gosden, Sir Michael Stoute, Hugo Palmer, Roger Varian, Michael Bell, William Haggas, and Simon Crisford.

Megan Pollexfen, manager of Discover Newmarket, said: "While delivering tours we were struck with how much people wanted to be more involved with the sport and how they could own a stake in a thoroughbred racehorse.

"Thanks to our new partnership with Highclere, we're so excited to be able to widen our offering to visitors as well as those within the town and cannot wait to see some of the winners from these new syndicates in the future."

Harry Herbert, chairman and managing director of Highclere. said: "All of us at Highclere are very much looking forward to working with Megan and her team at Discover Newmarket in the hope that we can encourage new owners into the sport."
