'He should be spot on for this' - 20-1, 16-1 and 5-1 tips for Saturday's racing

The Betfair Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown and Boylesports Many Clouds Chase at Aintree are two high-class contests on Saturday but there are plenty of handicaps to get stuck into. Three of our experts have picked out their best bets . . .

Weekend wagers

Ashtown Lad

2.05 Aintree, Saturday

Odds: 11-2 generally

By Liam Headd, reporter

The in-form Dan Skelton has dominated the top races for the last two Saturdays and he has a big chance of landing the £150,000 Becher Chase. Ashtown Lad ran with credit back over hurdles when third to Remastered at this track last month, and this is a race his trainer has been targeting for a while.

Ashtown Lad is a useful chaser who has the stamina for this trip and he put in a solid effort when trying to chase down Noble Yeats and Ahoy Senor in a Grade 2 novice chase at Wetherby last season.

Both have gone on to hit new heights and Ashtown Lad has a big opportunity to land a decent prize.

Wishing And Hoping

2.40 Aintree, Saturday

Odds: 20-1 with Coral (16-1 generally)

By Owen Goulding, tipster

He holds no secrets from the handicapper at the age of 12, but Wishing And Hoping loves Aintree and you can almost guarantee he will give his running in the 2m4f handicap chase.

The Mel Rowley-trained front-runner tends to run his best races fresh, and although he was no match for runaway winner Dingo Dollar over 3m1f in October, he had the rest of the field trailing behind him before the winner launched his bid.

Dropping back in trip shouldn't be an issue as he travels with plenty of exuberance and he is on the same mark here. Ground conditions are in his favour and there is plenty to like about his chances at an each-way price.

Gwencily Berbas

3.30 Sandown, Saturday

Odds: 16-1 generally

By Harry Wilson, reporter

Good ground in November is not something you come across often and that will go against those who want a proper slog in the London National, but one who should relish conditions is Gwencily Berbas.

He has been completely disregarded by the market at odds of 16-1 after a disappointing reappearance on soft ground at Warwick, but that should have put him spot on for this and he won at Exeter over 3m6½f second time out last season.

He arrives 1lb lower than for that victory and it's interesting that Tom Scudamore, who was on board at Exeter, takes the ride here instead of going to Aintree for Cloth Cap.
