Globetrotter Riven Light will bid to land valuable Korean prize

Galway festival hero Riven Light will now be aimed at the valuable Keeneland Korea Cup at Seoul on September 9.

Trainer Willie Mullins won a huge pot in the Far East when landing the Nakayama Grand Jump in Japan for the Riccis, who also own Riven Light, with Blackstairmountain in 2013.

He said: "We found this race in Korea and thought it would be suitable for Riven Light.

"The race is over 1m1f on a sand surface and the overall value is almost €770,000, so it's certainly worth a shot."

Riven Light won the Mile Premier Handicap at Galway last month on his first start since suffering a leg injury at Caulfield in Australia in October where he finished fourth in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Stakes.

Winning for the second time, the six-year-old carried 10st 1lb, the highest weight carried by a winner of the race in its 47-year history.

A son of Raven's Pass, Riven Light is a six-time Flat winner, including once at Listed level, and has also won over hurdles.
