The chance has arisen to own one of Britain's most famous racing pubs, and perhaps pull a pint for champion trainer Paul Nicholls.

The Manor House Inn, in Ditcheat, Somerset, a short walk from the yard of the 13-time champion, is on the market for £750,000.

Not only is the historic venue, built in the 17th century, frequented by Ditcheat's jockeys and stable staff but the pub has also served as the backdrop for many of the yard's historic celebrations, with Grand National hero Neptune Collonges and dual Gold Cup winner Kauto Star among the stellar names to have paraded past the building.

The Manor House Inn, which opens seven days a week, has embraced the racing history of the village, with artwork paying homage to the trainer’s top runners decorating the walls.

"It's just got a unique feel to it," said Christie & Co selling agent Saoirse Duddy. "There's lots of touches around the building to racing. It would be a horse-person's dream, including the view of horses riding past the building every morning."

An additional homage to Nicholls' training legacy is in the mews – a separate single-storey stable conversion housing five bedrooms, which are all named after famous horses trained in the village.

The estate agents said that “traditionally and consistently the business has generated a turnover of circa £500,000, outside of trading restrictions”. It boasts a bar, restaurant and function room, plus more room for outdoor dining on the half-acre property.
