Welcome to the club: in-demand Doyle rides 1,000th winner
Saturday was a big day for James Doyle thanks to his Irish Oaks triumph on Sea Of Class but, unbeknown to the top jockey at the time, Friday was rather significant as well.
At Newmarket's evening meeting the Godolphin star notched his 1,000th British Flat success aboard the Richard Hannon-trained Himself in a 7f handicap.

Doyle becomes the 22nd jockey currently riding to have reached 1,000 winners, with those above him including Godolphin teammate William Buick (1,099) and Frankie Dettori, who leads the way having amassed 3,129 British victories since breaking his duck in 1987.

Dettori's first success came 18 years before Doyle steered 2-1 favourite Farnborough to victory at Wolverhampton on June 1, 2005, to get on the scoresheet.
"It's brilliant," said Doyle. "Obviously quite a few guys ride 1,000 winners but it's still a nice thing to have done."
Recalling his win on Farnborough, Doyle added: "Farnborough was trained by Richard Price and I still remember the race, 100 per cent.
"I used to have a problem with getting nose bleeds. I don't know why it happened, and I don't get them any more, but back then I would get to the start and my nose would start bleeding.
"I have the pictures of that day at Wolverhampton at home and you can see me plastered in blood. I forgot to put my goggles down as well, which is not ideal at Wolverhampton."
