Cue Card among mass global entries for RoR Online Show

The Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) Online Show has attracted almost 300 entries from around the world, including Cue Card, with the results set to be announced during the final weekend of August.

British racing has shown its support for the new initiative with a host of leading figures sponsoring or judging the 30 classes. They include Oisin Murphy, John Gosden, Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls.

The RoR Goffs UK National Championships was scheduled to take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre at the end of the month but had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"The response has been fantastic and we're delighted with the high number of entries," said RoR chief executive Di Arbuthnot. "Many of the 297 horses are entered in more than one class and in total the show has generated more than 1,000 entries over 30 classes.

"To have representatives from Australasia, Hong Kong and the USA is also a great boost. Through the IFAR organisation, we've been working hard to develop an international community of aftercare providers and a silver lining to the dark cloud of the pandemic has been the ability to take entries from all over the world."

The international entries include Precedence, a five-time Australian Group winner who ran in three Melbourne Cups, and Caravan Rolls On, who raced in Australia after a spell with Peter Chapple-Hyam.

"The support shown by the racing community and beyond has been heartwarming. The cancellation of equestrian events left an unfillable void, but we've worked hard to continue to provide a service to the thousands of RoR members and their horses," added Arbuthnot.

In line with a recommendation within the welfare strategy published by the Horse Welfare Board this year, RoR is encouraging people to register, to allow racing to better track horses leaving the sport.
