Eyecatcher
Pink Crystal
Third, Wolverhampton, July 5
Eased 3lb ahead of this handicap debut, just got too far behind in a race where the leaders didn't come back. She's crying out for a stiffer test and shouldn't be long in winning again.
Five Towns
Fifth, Newmarket, July 7
A March foal and half-sister to 11.6f winner Three Priests out of a dam who won a Grade 3 over 1m3f in the US, showed promise on this debut despite greenness. A much stiffer test of stamina should suit.
Power Of Darkness
Third, Newmarket, July 7
Got set a lot to do on this seasonal return and there was plenty to like about his finishing effort. The veteran is 2lb lower than when last successful and ought to hold strong claims next time.
Phantom Flight
Third, Newmarket, July 8
Was in pursuit of a hat-trick following wins at Redcar and Haydock over 1m. He ran better than the bare result suggests having met with interference on two separate occasions, most noticeably three furlongs out.
Zodiac Star
Fourth, Salisbury, July 9
Cost €190,000 as a foal but went for 80,000gns at the Craven breeze-ups. This third foal of a 1m2f winner showed his inexperience, running green and losing his position on debut, but was staying on well late. He looks certain to improve.
Did well in the circumstances
Desert Order
Third, Newmarket, July 8
A February foal and first foal of a dam who is related to several middle-distance winners, attracted support and ran well after taking a bump at the start and after failing to settle on debut. He is open to improvement.
Intellogent
Third, York, July 9
Has made a positive start for the stable and worth marking up slightly having ended up a bit further than back the ideal, finishing off well once switching into the clear, and showing his versatility regards trip. He'll remain of interest in similar events.
Appreciate
Second, Stratford, July 10
Has been a revelation over hurdles this year, winning his last four starts, and he ran a more than respectable race here, having pulled hard for the first half of the contest. He's gone from 86 to 101 in the ratings, but still retains potential if settling better.
Promising
Epictetus
Won, Newmarket, July 8
A May foal and half-brother to four winners, including 6f-7f winner (including Listed) Jumbly, out of a Group 1-winning dam, created a pleasing impression on debut. He should stay 1m and this scopey sort and Derby entry is the sort to hold his own in stronger company.
Defence Of Fort
Won, Ascot, July 9
This sizeable son of Starspangledbanner picked up well once switched to the near rail and ran away from his rivals on debut. His dam was decidedly ordinary, although she is a half-sister to 1m4f Listed winner Razkalla, and Defence Of Fort has gleaned plenty of speed from his sire. Such is his frame, he looks sure to get better with age, so this was highly pleasing.
Starnberg
Third, Ascot, July 9
Ran a lovely race on debut, keeping on steadily without his rider resorting to his whip. A £42,000 breeze-up purchase, he'll have learned plenty from this and could take some stopping in something similar next time.
