Lambourn Open Day cancelled but charity auction bids can still be made online
The Peter O’Sullevan Lambourn Open Day has been cancelled, ending hopes that the popular event could be rescheduled in August.
The annual charity day is usually held on Good Friday, which this year falls on April 10, but the event was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
August bank holiday weekend was looked at as an alternative but now the event has been cancelled altogether.
The silent auction raising money for charities and the Lambourn stable staff is going ahead, and bidders can access the auction online.
Lots include gallops mornings with trainers including Nicky Henderson, Clive Cox, Charlie Hills, Jamie Osborne, Richard Hughes and Warren Greatrex.
Horseshoes from some of Henderson's stars of the season, days out and shares in various racing clubs are among the others.
The silent auction closes on Friday (April 10) and you can see full details here.
A statement on the Lambourn Open Day website reads: "There is too much uncertainty over the coronavirus situation in the coming months and unfortunately it does not feel right to start planning now.
"The next Lambourn Open Day will be Good Friday next year – April 2, 2021. We look forward to seeing everyone then.
"In the meantime please help the charity for the stable staff by bidding on some special and bargain-priced items on the silent auction."
