Jumps season steps up another gear as Wincanton stars on Saturday

Monday

Plumpton and Hereford are the two jumps meetings on show, while the Listed 32Red Floodlit Stakes (6.00) over a mile and a half is the highlight of Kempton's evening fixture on the all-weather. Crowned Eagle and 2017 Royal Ascot winner Atty Persse are among the ten runners for the contest which will be shown on Racing UK.

Tuesday

All eyes will be on the action down under as the Melbourne Cup (4.00) takes centre stage. Britain's best hopes of bringing back the famous trophy lies with the likes of Magic Circle, Godolphin's Cross Counter and Ebor winner Muntahaa.

Closer to home, Exeter and Fairyhouse host jumps fixtures, with the former hosting the Grade 2 Haldon Gold Cup (2.05). Grade 1 winner God's Own, Saint Calvados and San Benedeto are among the 18 entries.

Redcar is the sole afternoon Flat turf meeting, while there are also two all-weather fixtures – one in the day at Wolverhampton and one in the evening at Kempton.

Wednesday

There is something for both jumps and Flat fans to enjoy as Nottingham hosts a seven-race card, while Musselburgh and Chepstow are the two jumps meetings for the afternoon.

With three all-weather evening fixtures at Dundalk, Chelmsford and Newcastle, there will be plenty of racing to keep punters occupied throughout the day.

Thursday

Newbury hosts its first jumps meeting of the season and the beginners' chase (1.50) over 2m6½f usually produces a novice to watch out for at the spring festivals.

Market Rasen, Sedgefield and Thurles are the other afternoon meetings, while Flat fans have all-weather action at Chelmsford in the evening to look forward to.

Friday

Warwick is one of three jumps meetings alongside Hexham and Fontwell. Supreme Novices' Hurdle runner-up Kalashnikov looks set to make his chasing debut in the 2m novice chase (2.00) at the West Midlands track, while there are a couple of opportunities for mares at Fontwell.

Newcastle host a seven-race card on the all-weather in the evening to kick-start the weekend.

Saturday

Wincanton has its day in the sun with the Grade 2 "Rising Stars" Novices' Chase and Elite Hurdle taking centre stage. Paul Nicholls has farmed the former contest in the last two years with Frodon and Modus, while Sceau Royal won the Elite Hurdle in 2016 before going on to Grade 1 success over fences.

Doncaster hosts the final Flat turf meeting of the year and there are two Listed contests for punters to get their teeth into – the 1m2f Betfred TV / British EBF Gillies Fillies' Stakes and the 6f Mobile Wentworth Stakes.

Aintree and Kelso are the other two jumps meetings in the afternoon, while Chelmsford provides the evening entertainment with a seven-race card.

Sunday

The jumps returns to Sandown and the Listed Future Stars Intermediate Chase, won by King George hero Might Bite last year, is the highlight of the seven-race card.

The Pete The Feat veterans' chase is also worth noting as there is usually a stellar line-up of older horses taking part in the first race of the series.

Ffos Las is the other racecourse to host a meeting on Remembrance Sunday.
