Joseph O'Brien out to buck big Coral Gold Cup trend with classy five-year-old
Joseph O'Brien has proved that youth is no barrier to winning racing's biggest prizes and the in-form trainer will attempt to make more history at Newbury on Saturday when tackling the Coral Gold Cup with Irish challenger Busselton.
No five-year-old has won the historic handicap in its 65-year history, but Kerry National winner Busselton will try to do that for O'Brien, himself the youngest person to ride and train a Breeders' Cup winner, as well as being the youngest Melbourne Cup-winning trainer with Rekindling in 2017.
Market support has arrived in recent days behind the improving contender, who is third in the market with Betfair Sportsbook at 13-2 (from 12-1) behind 11-2 favourite Corach Rambler and 6-1 shot Remastered.
