Jockey Club takes legal action over early end to Magners Cheltenham sponsorship
The Jockey Club is suing the drinks company behind the Magners cider brand for more than £1.4 million over the abrupt termination of its sponsorship of the Cheltenham Gold Cup and partnership of the Cheltenham Festival.
A four-year agreement between the two sides had been due to run until 2022, but Magners announced last December the sponsorship would come to an early end.
Jockey Club Racecourses has issued a high court claim against Ireland-based Bulmers Ltd – the brand is known as Magners in the UK – accusing it of owing sponsorship and hospitality fees following the termination of the agreement.
