Jamie Moore to miss Aintree after picking up 14-day 'non-trier' ban at Chepstow

Jockey Jamie Moore will miss the Grand National meeting at Aintree after being found guilty under the non-triers' rule and banned for 14 days when Kings Monarch finished a never-nearer fourth, beaten just over 20 lengths, in the 2m novice hurdle behind The Last Day at Chepstow on Wednesday.

Kings Monarch's trainer Kerry Lee was fined £3,000 and the horse banned from running for 40 days by the stewards. Stipendiary steward Simon Cowley explained the punishments by saying: "The stewards considered the running and riding of Kings Monarch, who appeared to be tenderly handled throughout.

"After watching a video of the race and hearing evidence from Richard Lee, representing his daughter Kerry, and Jamie Moore, we found that the horse had not been asked for any timely, real or substantial effort and considered it to be a case of schooling and conditioning in public."

Moore has ridden 48 winners so far this season, eight of them for Lee, including two on Gino Trail whom he also rode to second in the Grand Annual at last week's Cheltenham Festival.

The Racing Post comments in running read: "Well off pace in midfield, 15 lengths 5th at halfway, kept on steadily from 2 out, given very easy time, never near leaders but signs of ability".

Moore will miss April 5-18 inclusive.
