Saturday, Chantilly

On a day when all three Group races went to the visitors, Mrs Fitzherbert stamped her authority over some highly tried rivals in the Prix Bertrand de Tarragon for Cristian Demuro and Hughie Morrison.

Demuro stalked the pace set by Gerald Mosse on Jupyra and Mrs Fitzherbert had little trouble in holding off the late challenge of Sundoro.

"She settled and picked up well," said Morrison. "The Godolphin filly came at her in the last furlong and then she pulled away again."

Having started the season with a Listed success at Goodwood, the daughter of Kingman made an encouraging return to action when third to Potapova in the Atalanta Stakes at Sandown last month.

Paddy Power halved her price to 20-1 for the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on October 1.

Morrison added: "She's got a serious engine and when she was third at Sandown the other day I couldn’t believe it because she was very short of work, I’d done nothing with her.

"The Sun Chariot is a huge temptation. We've got nothing to lose and if she comes out of this well, that’s where we go."

Moore and Doyle strike

Eddie's Boy ran right away from his rivals for a first Group success in the Prix Eclipse to ensure Hollie Doyle's only ride of the day was a winning one.

Archie Watson and owners Middleham Park have kept the son of Havana Grey busy since breaking his maiden at Southwell in April and were rewarded with victory in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury in July.

And Eddie's Boy could be back in action as early as next Saturday should connections decide to supplement him for the Middle Park Stakes.

"We could go to the Cornwallis Stakes or we could pay the £25,000 to supplement him for the Middle Park," said Middleham Park's Tim Palin. "We've seen recently with The Platinum Queen how rewarding it can be to supplement and overall it's been a vintage year for Middleham Park."

Ryan Moore also struck with his only ride on the card as Victoria Road traded up from a Listed success at Deauville last month to land the Group 3 Prix de Conde over nine furlongs.

Victoria Road was continuing Aidan O'Brien's successful navigation of France's two-year-old programme this season, following wins for Blackbeard in the Prix Robert Papin and Prix Morny and The Antarctic's success in the Prix de Cabourg.

Victoria Road also became his sire Saxon Warrior's first Group winner.
