She's back: Winx makes low-key return to the track in Rosehill barrier trial
Super mare Winx furthered her losing sequence in Rosehill trials to an even dozen when the world’s most popular racehorse coasted into seventh place in Sydney on Tuesday morning.
The four-and-a-half-furlong trial, won by Endless Drama, was the 12th time Winx had trialled on her home track and the super mare, known for her remarkable consistency throughout her career, again strolled around the course and was not asked to display any of her power or brilliance by her regular jockey Hugh Bowman.
Winx was slow out of the gates and two lengths last on settling, and then gradually warmed into her gallop in the home straight. Notably, she kept running strongly after the line.
Winx is due to resume racing on February 16 in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes at Randwick, where she would be chasing an astonishing 30th consecutive victory.
She is expected to trial again at Rosehill on January 29 and it is anticipated Winx may have an exhibition gallop at a race meeting before her first race of 2019.
