Moore presented with Longines World's Best Jockey trophy

Ryan Moore was presented with his Longines World's Best Jockey award at a ceremony in Hong Kong on Friday night.

The British rider, who picked up a crystal vase and Longines timepiece, was winning the award for the second time having also prevailed in 2014.

Moore won eight of the top 100 highest-rated Group and Grade 1 races worldwide, as established by the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings Committee, to blow his rivals away with a total of 166 points. His nearest pursuer, Christophe Soumillon, amassed 98 points.

Points were awarded from December 1, 2015, until November 30, 2016, with 12 points for a victory, six for placing second and four for finishing third.

Moore started the series strongly with victories in both the Longines Hong Kong Vase, where he rode Highland Reel for trainer Aidan O'Brien to a length-and-a-half success, and the Longines Hong Kong Mile on Maurice.

He carried on the good work during the summer with notable victories aboard Found in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and Minding in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

Moore has a strong book of rides in the Longines Hong Kong International Races on Sunday where he will again team up with Highland Reel and Maurice.
