Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens to join FOX Sports as racing analyst

The New York Racing Association (NYRA) and FOX Sports on Friday announced Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens would join the FOX Sports/NYRA Live shows as a racing analyst.

Stevens, who will make his debut on FOX Sports Saturday At The Races this spring, was inducted into the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame in 1997 after partnering 5,187 winners with purse earnings of more than $258 million.

The 55-year-old won nine Triple Crown races and 11 Breeders' Cup races in a career that started in 1979 and concluded with his retirement in 2018.

Away from racing Stevens has enjoyed success as an actor and television analyst, playing Hall of Fame jockey George Woolf in the film Seabiscuit, starring in the HBO series Luck and providing racing analysis for various TV networks, including NBC.

"I'm lucky to be able to transition to the next phase of my career," said Stevens. "There are few things more important to the future of our sport than bringing the best quality TV coverage to America's biggest races, and that is just what we will be doing with these shows."

FOX Sports and NYRA recently announced the most expansive television programming deal in horseracing history that will make FOX Sports the year-round national television home for NYRA racing from Saratoga and Belmont Park.
