Gis A Sub has 'huge shout' for Stott and Ryan team in Chantilly Group 2
Order Of Australia heads Aidan O'Brien's Grade 1 team in the United States
Gis A Sub and Desert Dreamer head to Chantilly on Saturday with a strong chance of re-establishing British dominance in the 6f Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte (2.50 Sky).
Kevin Stott enjoyed one of his biggest career successes when steering Hello Youmzain to victory for Kevin Ryan when the race was run at its eponymous home in 2018 and the pair team up again with Gis A Sub, the only colt a field of six.
"He was in the Mill Reef and for whatever reason had a little issue in the stalls," said son and assistant Adam Ryan. "Something happened on the day and it was just one of those things, but it has never been a problem before.
"Based on his run in the Gimcrack he'll go across there with a huge shout and the ground should be no issue for him."
Desert Dreamer placed four times at Pattern level without getting her nose in front and was fifth in the Cheveley Park on her most recent start.
"She's been a bit unlucky in one or two of her races this year so we thought this was a good spot for her," said Stuart Williams. "She's in good form and travelled over well.
"She's been running on good to firm but I haven't targetted those races for that reason. She's out of a Montjeu mare and I've no reason to suppose she won't go on easy ground."
O'Brien and Appleby target Keeneland and Belmont riches
Order Of Australia returns to the scene of his greatest triumph when facing 12 rivals in the Grade 1 Keeneland Turf Mile (10.46 Sky) on Saturday evening.
Last season's Breeders' Cup Mile hero will have John Velazquez for assistance as he bids to defy stall 10 and set himself up for a trip to this year's meeting at Del Mar.
Aidan O'Brien also saddles Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Empress Josephine in the First Lady (9.44 Sky) over the same turf mile, where she will face stern competition from the Charlie Appleby-trained Althiqa under Jamie Spencer.
Wayne Lordan is on duty for Coolmore at Belmont Park in New York as Japan bids for revenge against his Saratoga conqueror Gufo in the Grade 1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (8.47 Sky).
