Where you can take good from bad you should. One of the very best examples of that in this rotten year has been the universal extension of 48-hour declarations to jumping.

The frustration of trainers is understandable, and there is no suggestion it is anything other than sincerely felt. It is undeniably true it can be harder to have confidence about the likely ground and weather on a Saturday if you are attempting to be Michael Fish on the Thursday instead of the Friday. It is therefore also true that bringing forward declaration stages by a day will produce more non-runners. None of that can be denied.
