'I'm in favour' - Henderson supports five-day festival ahead of talks next week
Nicky Henderson will express his support for a five-day Cheltenham Festival when he takes part in a Zoom call with researchers next week.
The six-time champion jumps trainer, who has celebrated 72 winners at the meeting, believes a Saturday at the Cheltenham Festival could entice a new crowd who are unable to attend during the week and believes it is hard to ignore the financial benefits of an extra day.
Fellow trainer Alan King will, however, oppose the change if he features in the Jockey Club's consultation process. He said the move towards a fifth day “smacks of greed” yet admitted he felt the change was inevitable.
