'I thought David was destined for the top after National triumph' - Mouse Morris

Mouse Morris said David Mullins gave him "one of his best days out" when winning the Grand National on Rule The World as a teenager in 2016 and believed he was destined to reach the top of his profession afterwards.

That rise up the ranks did not happen the way Morris had expected, although Mullins did go on to win nine Grade 1s, and the trainer expressed his sadness at seeing such a talented rider leave the sport so early.

Morris said: "It's very sad to see somebody as talented as David leave the game at his age. He is such a nice guy to go along with it as well. I thought he'd make it after the National. I really did think he was destined for the very top. He had so much talent."
