Native River had his owners "thanking their lucky stars" on Saturday after yet another memorable victory in his outstanding career.

His success in the rearranged Cotswold Chase at Sandown gave Garth and Anne Broom more cause to be grateful for their decision to "take a punt" on the 11-year-old, who was recording his 14th success.

He has now earned more than £1 million in prize-money as a chaser and has only once finished out of the first three in 20 starts over fences.
