Jenningsbet operates 100 shops across the UK including 63 in London, all of which will be forced to close their doors from Thursday until at least December 2. Managing director Greg Knight fears for what will happen to bookmakers if the industry is not given the same consideration as after the first lockdown in June

I do understand the need for the country to go into lockdown. I'm not one of these people that just gets so self-obsessed with their own business that they can't see the bigger picture. But that doesn't mean that I'm not anxious.

If I thought it was 100 per cent certain that we would be opening again on December 2, I would have to accept it, live with it and get on with it as best we can.
