'I blame myself for Goodwood' - Walker optimistic English King can bounce back

English King can still prove one of the best middle-distance three-year-olds in Europe, according to trainer Ed Walker, who is keeping options open for the Lingfield Derby Trial winner.

The Pertemps St Leger at Doncaster a week on Saturday and the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp the following day remain in play for English King, with Walker and owner Bjorn Nielsen desperate to avoid soft ground.

"He will be left in both until the last minute," said Walker. "The ground is going to come into play and will probably be the deciding factor in the end. We're not going to run on soft ground.
