Pink Crystal
Third, Newcastle, Tuesday

Weak in the market having been sent off a 9-1 chance and green early on, Pink Crystal got a bit outpaced and was still last with a furlong and a half to run.

However, this daughter of Shamardal made eyecatching late headway under jockey Cieren Fallon, cutting through the pack and running on strongly to grab third.

The first foal of a 7f Listed juvenile winner, Pink Crystal shaped with plenty of encouragement on her debut and shouldn't be long in getting off the mark on the all-weather this winter. [Steffan Edwards]

Minzaal
Third, Ascot, Saturday

Last season's Gimcrack winner was having only his second run of this campaign when finishing third in Saturday's Champions Sprint at Ascot.

In a race in which few runners got seriously involved, this horse fared best of those to come from off the pace. He made a big move from the rear and was then able to sustain his bid for a place.

It was a very pleasing effort and he's one to pop into the tracker with a view to profiting next year, when he will be a top sprint prospect. [Ron Wood]

Art Power
Fourth, Ascot, Saturday

Art Power was another beaten horse to emerge with credit in the Champions Sprint and should also reward those who remember the name for next year.

A five-length winner of a Curragh Group 3 on his previous start, he had the worst draw as it turned out, being posted in stall 20 of 20 in a race that developed towards the far side. In addition, he raced freely with limited cover and the first three home were drawn in stalls five, two and four.

Art Power ran a massive race in the circumstances, doing well to fill the same spot as in this race the previous year. He has the ability to breakthrough at the top level in 2022. [Ron Wood]

Vadream
Fifth, Ascot, Saturday

The Champions Sprint might well prove a race to follow as Vadream is another to go into the tracker for next year after an eyecatching effort.

Having been slowly into stride, the supplemented three-year-old was disadvantaged in a race that didn't set up for those from off the speed, and she didn't get a clear run either.

However, she was staying on nicely at the finish and still has more to offer in 2022, when she will have plenty of options as a filly. [Ron Wood]
