Henrietta Knight has urged British trainers to forge stronger links with racing schools in an attempt to ease the sport's staffing crisis.

The legendary former trainer paid her first visit to the British Racing School (BRS) at the start of July and was impressed with what she saw, but feels more could be done to support young staff in the early days of employment.

The role of the BRS in Newmarket and National Horseracing College in Doncaster has taken on even greater significance against the backdrop of a worrying staff shortage, which National Association of Racing Staff chief executive George McGrath estimates at a 12-15 per cent shortfall of around 800 workers.
