Goodwood pays unique video tribute to equine First World War casualties
As countless acts of remembrance are planned across Britain for this Sunday, Goodwood has paid its own unique tribute to the equine combatants who played their part in the First World War.
The video pulls together a series of striking images featuring horses and their role during the four-year conflict.
More than 8 million horses died during the 'war to end all wars', while 27,000 men served in the Royal Veterinary Corps.
Among the original photos used is an aerial image of a horse's bridled head, formed by 650 US servicemen at an army base in New Mexico in 2017.
The 7th Duke of Richmond – whose great great grandson now oversees Goodwood – lost his son, Bernard Gordon Lennox, during the early months of the war in Flanders.
