Former Lincoln winner Ocean Tempest joins British Racing School
Ocean Tempest, the 2014 Lincoln winner, has been retired from racing but moved only a couple of miles down the road in Newmarket for his new job.
The eight-year-old left trainer John Ryan to join the roster at the British Racing School after a 58-race career that brought ten wins and prize-money of £236,425.
"He's been an absolute superstar for me and had been lead horse at home," said Ryan. "I'm a little sad he couldn't carry on this year but he's had muscular niggles.
"He'll be looked after well at the BRS, who have had some of our other horses – Kingchip Boy went there and more recently Simple Rhythm, who's still there."
Ocean Tempest enjoyed his best year in 2014, supplementing his Lincoln win with successes at Ascot, Windsor and Chester.
Adam Kirby, his Lincoln partner, rode him to two Listed wins at Ascot and Windsor inside a fortnight on his favoured soft ground, before Joe Doyle partnered him to what was to be his last success.
Ryan added: "He won a Chester handicap off top weight of 9st 10lb with Joe taking off 3lb and I think he remains the highest-rated horse to win a handicap, certainly in the last ten years. He won that race with a rating of 115."
